Queen of Sheba

I finally had the opportunity to eat Ethiopian food in Oregon after two years living here at Queen of Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant.

Most restaurants are open for lunch only... that's the problem!

The restaurant is located in Portland. It offers ten delicious vegetarian dishes.

1. Atakilt Alicha  – Sauteed vegetables (potatoes, carrots, and green beans) in aromatic Alicha spice.

2. Atakilt Kilike Alicha – Gardener’s “One-Child-Many-Vegetable” dish, with a variety of cabbages, carrots, green beans, and other seasonal vegetables. Sauteed in our aromatic spices.

3. Tsebhi Haamali – Fresh mustard greens steamed and seasoned with flax seeds.

4. Kik Wet – Split pea stew with warm spices.

5. Kik Alicha – Yellow split pea stew in mild aromatic Alicha spices.

6. Misr Bamia Wet – Lentil and okra stew (this is a traditional appetite stimulant).

7. Misr Wet – Lentil stew with warm spices.

8. Shiro Wet – A wonderful paste made with spiced chickpea flavor.

9. Shimbra Assa – Chickpea cracker stew, our specialty! Stone ground chickpea crackers are stewed in our special Berbere sauce.

10. Tsebhi Kinttishara – Fresh Oregon mushroom sizzling.

We shared a combination of #1, #3, #7, #8, #9 and repeating #7 the best dish for me! All dishes are served over injera bread.
